An idiot's crisis

Biden's Cover-up Of The Classified Document Scandal Has Many Facets

You've heard a lot about the scandal of Joe Biden's mishandling of classified documents recently. So far, classified documents have been found in Biden's think tank office, the Penn Biden Center, in his garage, in his residence in Delaware, and in other locations. Unfortunately, you're going to hear a lot more in the months ahead. This is not a typical Washington DC scandal where participants get spun up, yell talking points, and then the whole thing goes away with no accountability. This scandal is far more serious and more closely resembles Watergate than the dopey raid on Mar-a-Lago. In addition to his original crimes (stealing classified documents, mishandling classified documents, failing to report his possession of the documents for six years, etc.), Biden has made the classic blunder of running a cover-up. That always fails in the end and adds numerous crimes to those committed at the outset. By the way, don't waste time on the Democrat talking points about Trump's possession of classified documents. Trump was president and could declassify whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Biden was vice president when he took the documents in 2017 and he had no authority whatsoever to declassify anything. The Constitution and the statutes are clear on this. Trump never denied he had the documents but was in a legal discussion about whether he was entitled to keep them or not. That's a lawyer-to-lawyer discussion, not a reason to break down the door and search Melania's underwear drawer, which is what the FBI did. Biden took the documents illegally in 2017 and had them for six years before the truth leaked out. Biden's lawyers found the classified documents on November 2, 2022, but withheld information about that discovery until after the mid-term elections. His lawyers did not have security clearances, so they had no business handling the documents anyway once they knew they were classified. Biden's lawyers already knew there were additional documents in the garage at a time when the White House was saying publicly that there were no other documents, and the search was complete. The entire episode has been one lie after another. It would have a Keystone Cops quality to it if it were not so serious. The more Biden covers up, the more questions arise. Hunter Biden had access to the classified documents in the Biden residence; (he was living there). Did the documents relate to Ukraine and Hunter Biden's influence peddling? Did they relate to China and the millions of dollars China gave to the Biden family and the sponsors of the Penn Biden Center? You get the point. This story is just getting started. There may be more questions than answers at this stage, but the answers will be forthcoming eventually. If you want a good overview of most of the key issues (recognizing that the story is ongoing), this article is an excellent summary.
