The political news has been disconcerting to say the least. The FBI got a warrant to raid Donald Trump's home. The warrant was unnecessary because the Department of Justice could have used a subpoena, which is a mandatory request but does not involve breaking in. Better yet, the DOJ could have simply continued an ongoing dialogue with Trump's lawyers. Trump had already provided many documents and would have provided more. The warrant itself is unconstitutional because it does not comply with the requirements of the Fourth Amendment that says, "no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause … particularly describing the place to be searched, and the … things to be seized." In fact, the FBI warrant to raid Trump allowed the entire home to be searched and every document to be seized. That's overbroad and does not meet the "particularly describing" provision. The FBI won't release the affidavit supporting the warrant probably because it's a mess of unsourced news reports and secondhand gossip posing as "information." There's a lot more to say about the Mar-a-Lago raid, but here's an article that puts the raid in a more threatening context. Remember the Russia Hoax that was based on a false dossier and tied the Trump administration in knots? Remember the fact that Trump was impeached not once, but twice, both times on trumped-up grounds? The kangaroo court January 6 Commission is ongoing with show trial dynamics including no members appointed by House Republicans, no cross-examination of witnesses, no release of closed-door testimony, and no examination of the role of Nancy Pelosi in refusing National Guard help. The Jan 6 Commission will also not look at the role of FBI undercover agents promoting the riot in the first place. This is more than just a continual series of harassing tactics. This is a concerted effort to make sure Donald Trump never again becomes president. The impeachments did not result in Senate convictions, but if they had, Trump would have been removed from office at the time. The January 6 Commission may create an "insurrection" charge that could bar Trump from office under the Fourteenth Amendment. An arrest of Trump under the National Records Act based on evidence from Mar-a-Lago would, at a minimum, damage Trump's reelection chances and might be used to bar him from office, although the latter effort is legally dubious. The point is there's a thread that runs through Russia, impeachment, Jan. 6, Mar-a-Lago, and a lot else. The thread is that the Democrats will stop at nothing to stop Trump. That's important to bear in mind because the plots, lies, and illegal warrants will just keep coming and do serious damage to Americans' trust in the rule of law. Brace yourself for more assaults on Trump. This metaphorical assassination effort is not over.
