Don't underestimate the animal spirit

While nearly all the indicators are pointing towards a very overbought market at the moment, bulls simply don't care and have been buying relentlessly these days. As such, I don't want to underestimate their strength to continue this way till all falling apart.

Here is something I shared with my DW Family today.

Will be interesting to see if the animal spirit can continue next week.

Should medical doctors be worried now?

I have been asked by quite a few friends what is the best way to protect ourselves for long term care. I have never recommended to have a LTC insurance as it will mostly be wasted (see my blog here on this topic). In my mind, a well-designed whole life insurance is a better alternative that can also take care of the LTC needs (see here for more details). Apart from that, I also think our generation will have a good chance to enjoy AI based robots who can take good care of us when we are really old. But this is more on the physical side. Now with the red hot generative AI, ChatGPT, hitting the world, it seems we will very soon see well qualified AI doctors who can accurately diagnose and treat patients. See the real test story below. As a physician, I'm really impressed by the ChatGPT differential diagnoses. Just one personal opinion on the order of the possible diagnoses. I'd think this patient could more likely have coronary  artery disease than hypertension. Not sure if my doctor friends would agree with me.

My real question is: with such a powerful AI available, won't we quickly and soon enter an era when most people don't need to see a real human doctor but just an AI doctor? If so, should the young practicing medical doctors be worried about their futures? I do see the career crisis for them, unfortunately!😨

And it turns out ChatGPT is also a medical whiz. After it passed the USMLE, I suggested that the AI could be used to help doctors make accurate diagnoses in the future.

Well, it turns out the future is already here. A small early stage company out of San Francisco just launched a feature that applies generative AI to the medical field.

The company is called Glass Health. I asked my team to try out its platform. Turns out it's quite impressive.

To test it out, we entered a hypothetical situation: 54-year old male presenting with chest pain, headaches, body mass index of 25, otherwise healthy. Then we pressed the "Generate DDx" button. DDX stands for "differential diagnosis."

It took the AI a few seconds to make its diagnosis… but it's quite thorough. Here's a look:

Source: Glass Health

After reading through the diagnosis, we clicked the "Generate Clinical Plan" button. And here's what the AI suggested:

As we can see, the AI suggests doing an EKG, a chest x-ray, a CT angiogram, and possibly even blood work. It also suggests a few prescriptions that could help the patient, starting with Aspirin.

What a practical tool. Most incredible is how quickly it produced useful and actionable information.

And here's the best part – generative AIs can incorporate the entire body of research in every area of medicine into their diagnoses. No single physician could possibly do that.

What's more, these AIs can be updated every day. That way they will always incorporate the latest peer-reviewed research into their suggestions.

Traitor Joe Strikes Again

RICKARDS

Jim Rickards, here…

Joe Biden just can't stay out of his own way.

By now, I'm sure you've heard about the classified documents that were found in Biden's Wilmington, DE home. This is just the most recent discovery of classified documents, as they were previously discovered in Biden's think tank office, the Penn Biden Center, in his garage, and other locations.

This is not a typical Washington DC scandal where participants get spun up, yell talking points, and then the whole thing goes away with no accountability. This scandal is far more serious and more closely resembles Watergate than the dopey raid on Mar-a-Lago.

Speaking of Mar-a-Lago, Biden has called Trump "irresponsible" for keeping classified documents at his home. He even went as far as weaponizing the Justice Department to conduct a raid at Trump's Florida mansion.

At least Trump has security at Mar-a-Lago. In Biden's case, the documents were found in an unsecured garage. Right where any bad actor could access them.

Who knows who had access to that garage? The NY Post reported that Hunter Biden had access to the Corvette that was stored in the garage. If that is true, we know he would sell U.S. secrets to the highest bidder.

Biden has been so busy blaming Trump for the economy and Russia and China, while also criticizing his handling of classified documents that he must have forgotten about the treasure trove of classified documents he kept hidden at all of his properties.

I've warned you before that I was hearing early whispers of another military conflict brewing.

Who knows what effect Biden's many mishaps could have on the financial markets or your retirement savings? Not to mention American global security!

One thing is very clear. The simple fact is that Joe Biden can't be trusted to protect American interests and to keep America's secrets safe.

Just like he can't be trusted to protect your freedoms with the implementation of Biden Bucks that is coming soon.

If he doesn't care enough to protect America's secrets, do you think he cares about your personal liberties and privacy?

I will continue to sound the alarm as the Biden Bucks initiative becomes a reality.

Powell was talking both sides of his mouth....

Well, the market has proven I'm wrong about today's reaction. While I thought Powell would sound more hawkish than what the market had expected, he actually was talking both sides. And the market picked up the dovish side as the Fed's direction so that it could find more excuses to further advance today. Shorts got squeezed badly. While my short side trades haven't worked out yet, I took a quick double overnight from my long side trade, which I placed as a hedge yesterday.

Moving forward, I think the market has reached its exhausting point that the chance of a major leg down will come soon. My VIX crystal ball is flashing more and more strongly now that it wants to jump up. A higher VIX is often associated with a declining market in general. Taking advantage of today's reckless up moves of the market, we added more shorts today.
